A grand event took place in the community of St. Sergius of Radonezh of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church in Pakistan – the consecration of the laying of the church foundations in the name of St. Sergius, the wonder-worker of Radonezh.
On February 6, as part of a missionary trip, the head of the Moscow Metropolitanate’s Edifying Department, father Michael Rodin and the rector of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite parishes of Pakistan, father Cyril Shahzad, performed the service of the laying of the church foundations in Sargodha, Pakistan.
With the permission of the authorities, the construction of a church in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh is under way. Father Cyril gave part of his house and turned it into a prayer house, in which services have already been held for many years. The new extension will serve as an altar, since the community does not yet serve Divine Liturgy, but pray the Hours and take communion with the reserve Gifts.
The community asks anyone who would like to donate to the new Old-Rite Orthodox church in Pakistan, to please send donations to the Sberbank card 5469 5600 1016 0410. The message should include the word “donation”.
