On June 4, a meeting was held at Rogozhskoe between representatives of the Russian Orthodox Old-believers Church and the deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Evgenievich Ostvenko.
The participants discussed the matter of facilitating with the resettlement of Old-believers from the countries of South America to the Primorsky territory. Mr Ostvenko supported the initiative of the governor of the Primorsky Krai, to assist in the issuance of Russian citizenship to the heads of the Old-believer communities from Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay and the United States for the future relocation to the Far East of Russia.
Mr Ostvenko took the situation under his personal control so as to promptly overcome the formal procedures and to start of construction of the cultural-pilgrimage center of the Russian Orthodox Old-believers Church in Vladivostok. The meeting also discussed the importance of uniting Old-believers around the world, as part of next year’s upcoming celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the birth of hieromartyr Avvakum.
