The Day of Russia Was Celebrated in Chisinau with the Participation of Old Believers

A solemn event dedicated to the Day of Russia was held in the small hall of the House of Nationalities in Chisinau. On June 11, a photo exhibition of Viktor Brichak about the life of the Old Believers of Transnistria opened in the foyer. On June 12, the choir of the Bendery Old Believer community took part in a concert dedicated to Russian culture.

The photo exhibition was initiated, among others, by the Bendery community, headed by its rector, father Andrei Kostromin. 50 works of the Transnistrian photo artist were presented by the head of the social movement “Russian Spiritual Unity” Pyitr Dontsov. He briefly spoke about the life of the Old Believers in Moldova and the latest bright events in the life of the Old Believers: the international online videoconference and the World Old Believers Forum. The rector of the church in Bendery Andrei Kostromin and mother Xenia continued his message with a story about the history of the Old Believers of Transnistria.

After Chisinau, the photo exhibition, supplemented with new materials, will go to Moscow State University to become part of the events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the ethnogeographic department of the Faculty of History.
