October 9, 2023 | On October 6, in the building of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, a meeting was held between the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, Metropolitan Korniliy, and the Chairman of the DECR MP ROC, Metropolitan Anthony. The decision to hold that meeting was made at a session of the Metropolis Council of our Church, held in September of the last year.
Bishop Korniliy was accompanied by the head of the Educational Department of the Moscow Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church Priest Mikhail Rodin, Protodeacon Viktor Savelyev, and Alexander Govorov. Metropolitan Anthony — by the Deputy Chairman of the DECR MP, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, and the Secretary of the Russian Orthodox Church Commission for the Affairs of Old Believer Parishes and for Interaction with the Old Believers Archpriest Ioann Mirolyubov. During the meeting, ways of further peaceful, good-neighborly communication between the two confessions were discussed, as well as the options for continuing the dialogue on canonical issues between the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church and the Russian Orthodox Church.
