On May 22, the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Library in Odessa hosted a presentation of the book “Russian Old Believers of Odessa: Ethno-confessionality in a Multicultural City“. The authors of the monograph are Professor Alexandr Prigarin and Alla Fedorova.
The scholarly work provides a characteristic of the Orthodox Old Believers and the history of how they appeared in our area. The story of their life under the persecution at the dawn of the emergence of Odessa, the “golden age” of the Old Believers, the survival of the Old Believers during the period of Soviet atheism and data on the current state of the community are covered.
