On August 2, 2021, the tenth anniversary of service in the priesthood is celebrated by the rector of the Balakovo church, the director of the Edifying Department of the Moscow Metropolia, priest Mikhail Rodin, teacher of the Moscow Old Believers Spiritual College.
The editors of the site congratulate Fr. Michael and wish God’s help in the highly important pastoral ministry, health, strength and wisdom in solving the many church tasks that Fr. Michael has a chance to decide, and many good years!
Mikhail Mikhailovich Rodin was born in 1979 in the town of Balakovo, Saratov Region. After graduating from high school, he entered the Pedagogical Institute of Saratov State University. In 2001 he graduated with honours from the university with a degree in philology and entered the graduate school at SSU. In 2004 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences.
Since 2003, he started to work as a teacher in higher educational institutions. Father Mikhail teaches various disciplines: English, Russian and culture of speech, Russian as a foreign language, theoretical grammar of the English language, lexicology of the English language, stylistics of the English language. He is the author of scholarly, methodological and journalistic articles, as well as textbooks.
On July 31, 2011, His Eminence Metropolitan Korniliy ordained him a deacon. On August 2 of the same year – a priest.
For several years, Fr. Mikhail is engaged in the revival of the Balakovo Old Believer community and the construction of a church in the name of St. Serapion of Cheremshany in Balakovo. He teaches the Old Testament and apologetics at the Moscow Old Believer Spiritual College.
Currently, Fr. Mikhail heads the Edifying Department of the Moscow Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Old Rite Church. He is a participant in several educational projects supported by the Presidential Grants Fund. He is the author of numerous articles, programs, films, video talks and video lectures, translation of the Old Believer prayer book into English. Father Michael is the editor of the Urdu translation of the Old Believer prayer book. Since 2017, he has been the head of the Old Believer mission in Pakistan, and has repeatedly visited Pakistani Old Believer communities. Together with Matushka Elena Fr. Mikhail raises four children.
